Scotch Bonnet Records presents the return of Charlie P to Glasgow, with a first time collaboration between Mungo’s Hi Fi Soundsystem and the Chungo-Bungo crew.

Charlie P is an MC who is seemingly unstoppable at the moment. At 19 he’s already extensively touring and recording an ever-growing catalogue of work. He loves to sing, his style on the mic is unique and he’s more than lyrically equipped.

Mungo’s Hi Fi & Chungo-Bungo will be at the controls for the evening. The CB crew have been promoting some serious dances all around Scotland in the last year, whilst Mungo’s Hi Fi have been touring the globe, with their second album “Forward Ever” on Scotch Bonnet receiving widespread acclaim. This will be their first night in Scotland with the sound since May 2011. The combination of these two sounds will be deadly; this one is not to be missed.

North America Tour with Soom T

20000 miles by air and 3000 miles on the highway was enough for us to complete our first tour of North America from September – October 2011. It was a great experience which we would like to share via the links below.

Farewell to Dub n Grub

After 10 years we sadly have to stop Dub n Grub.
We loved every one and we want to thank The 78, kitchen and bar staff as well as the dubngrubbers for making the magic happen.
But before we shed too many tears – Argonaut Sounds will continue to run tings in a roots tradition after we leave, so all is not lost for lovers of tasty reggae and friendly vibes.
Our last one will be on Thursday 19th May, but we will be saying goodbye throughout the month.

Pupajim and Stand High Patrol for the last night in Stereo

2011.05.21 pupajim poster

You have to make it down for this.

“The music is like a underground exploration…and I am specialized in the tunnel excavation.”

Pupajim is fast emerging as one of Europe’s best new vocalists from any genre and I cannot get my head around how a Frenchman from Brest can deliver such insightful and playful lyrics in English delivered cooler and deadlier than Nitty Gritty on ice.

“Do you want my DNA? Mr President there is no way. I can give you some but only in a spray.”

He is accompanied by the full Stand High Patrol in the shape of Mac Gyver and Rootystep and the sounds these guys are producing are phenomenal. With releases on Jahtari and Scrub a Dub and collaborations with the Nextmen and Tayo they are fast becoming International Farmers. Check their tunes TV Addict, Amplifier and Business of war before you come so you can sing along.

And needless to say – get down early. This is the last night Mungo’s Hi Fi is playing for now in Stereo. We want to say a big thanks to all the staff and massive who have been brilliant.

If you liked Firehouse Sound when they came to the Artschool last October here are the guys that beat them in the all Danish Soundclash and are still the reigning champions.
Rootsman’s trademark is powerful energy, honest love of music and warmhearted approach to whoever is on the other side of the speakers.
Expect intense 60s ska, digital 80s dancehall, righteous 90s roots revive, primitive ragga from around the millennium, deep UK dub, soulful rock-steady, fresh current dancehall, rude 2tone ska, militant 70s steppers and heavy thunderclap roots music.
Lock up your daughters cos the vikings are coming.
